Preventative Maintenance, What to Look for
Inest Iwata Oil Free Vacuum Pumps
- Listen- The pump should not be making any loud or unexplained noises. Increased noise while pumping at atmosphere is common but should not be excessive.
- Temperature- The normal operating temperature of the pump should be < 140 F. The temperature can be sensed using an I/R temp gun at 3 locations on the module (12 o'clock, 4 o'clock, and 8 o'clock). These are the locations of the pin cranks that control the orbit of the orbiting scroll.
- Electrical Draw- An increased electrical draw is a sign of increased load on the motor which generally means increased friction inside the pump module. This friction normally is seen in a couple of places; most common is bearing wear, or contact points inside the pump from residue that has been ingested by the pump.
- Increased Vibration- this is another sign of bearing wear or contact points.
